The Montreal Canadiens sign OHL forward Hayden Verbeek to a three-year entry-level contract

Despite the OHL playoffs being in full swing, and the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds being the top club in the league, the Montreal Canadiens managed to sign one of the team’s top scorers, Hayden Verbeek.

In 68 games this year, the centre/left winger has tallied 30 goals and 31 assists while serving as an alternate captain. Over the course of his 250 OHL games, Verbeek has 59 goals and 77 total assists, with the majority of those points coming in his final year for the Greyhounds.

With him being 20 years old already, Verbeek will be eligible to join the Laval Rocket next season, and adds a much needed body to a prospect pool that is lacking at forward right now.

He is the nephew of long-time NHL pest Pat Verbeek, and will no doubt have picked up some of those same qualities in his game.
