Canadiens call up their Black Aces

With the post season in full swing the Habs have recalled the Black Aces from Hamilton.

Eric Bolte-USA TODAY Sports

With the Hamilton Bulldogs final AHL season in the books, and no post season hockey on the horizon, Marc Bergevin has gone ahead and summoned the "Black Aces" from their minor-league affiliate.

The Habs announced they have called up forwards: Christian Thomas, Daniel Carr & Charles Hudon. In addition they also recalled the following defencemen; Darren Dietz & Brett Lernout. Goaltender Mike Condon will make the trip as well.

As per usual, it is unlikely that any of the Black Aces make it into the starting lineup without any sort of serious injury, but several of the call ups have NHL experience under their belt.

You'll note that Michael Bournival and Jarred Tinordi were not among the prospects that were recalled, and that's because the players in question are still recovering from injuries. Sven Andrighetto is currently on World Hockey Championship duties with Switzerland.

The players will head to Montreal tomorrow, and practice at the Brossard training facility starting Tuesday.
