Bulldogs Weekly Report: Gabriel Dumont takes over Bulldogs' goal scoring lead

A home and home series against the rival Marlies saw the Bulldogs captain rise to the challenge this past weekend.

Bulldogs Player of the Week: Gabriel Dumont

For the second week in a row the Bulldogs captain will take home player of the week honours. After Dumont struggled to find consistency in his game early in the year he appears to have turned a corner. In a 3-0 win over the Toronto Marlies he would tally a pair of goals to spoil William Nylander's AHL debut. The following day he would score late in the third period to tie the game against Toronto and send it to overtime. In overtime his shot was tipped past Antoine Bibeau by Sven Andrighetto completing the comeback win. Dumont now leads the Bulldogs in goals scored and sits third overall in team scoring behind Charles Hudon and T.J. Hensick.

Take a look at Dumont's game tying blast against Toronto:

Charles Hudon: Hamilton's leading scorer was kept off the scoresheet this weekend in a two game series against Toronto. Hudon still represented the Bulldogs at the AHL All-Star game in the skills competition on Sunday, in addition to the actual game on Monday. Hudon made the most of the game, registering a hat trick along with an assist, and collecting Co-MVP honours alongside Jacob Markstrom.

Take a look at Hudon, T.J. Brennan and Connor Brown in the AHL Pass and Score contest:

Sven Andrighetto: Mired in a scoring slump the speedy sniper broke his goal drought with the game winning goal (his tenth) in overtime against Toronto.

Daniel Carr: While Hudon garners all the attention for his rookie year, Daniel Carr has quietly put together a solid run of games for Hamilton. The NCAA product notched his ninth goal in a 3-0 shutout of the rival Marlies.

Drayson Bowman: The veteran forward continues to be a solid source of offense for Hamilton this season and registered his seventh goal of the year on Saturday against Toronto.

Christian Thomas: After a good run of games in Montreal Thomas is back to being a go to source of scoring for the Bulldogs. Thomas recorded just one assist on an empty net goal on Friday night in a 3-0 win. Thomas was recalled by the Canadiens on Sunday and will likely slide in to his old spot in the lineup.

Davis Drewiske: The leader of the Bulldogs defensive core added to his career season with an assist on Maxime Macenauer's sixth goal of the year. Drewiske has now tied his career high in points in eighteen less games, and leads all Hamilton defensemen in scoring.

Greg Pateryn: While he isn't posting the same scoring totals as last season Pateryn continues to be a consistent source of offense for Hamilton. He added an assist to his point totals with a marker on Daniel Carr's ninth goal of the season.

Magnus Nygren: There have been no updates on Nygren's recovery from a concussion, but he has returned to Hamilton after returning home for a week.

Mac Bennett: After he struggled early in the year Mac Bennett has established himself as a top defensemen for the Bulldogs. He added an assist on a Drayson Bowman goal in a 4-3 OT win against Toronto.

Darren Dietz: Much like Bennett, Dietz has found some stability in his play and added a single assist to his point totals this week.

Jacob de la Rose: Despite a lackluster start to the year De la Rose has become much more consistent in his play. The Swedish forward registered an assist on Gabriel Dumont's tenth goal of the year in a 3-0 win over Toronto.

Eric Tangradi: The veteran forward is still sidelined with an upper body injury.

Jarred Tinordi: After a successful return last week, Tinordi missed both games this week with an undisclosed illness.

Connor Crisp: The rookie forward is still nursing an injury sustained against Lake Erie.

Bryan Allen: The elder statesmen of the Bulldogs blueline tallied no points, no shots on goal and four penalty minutes this weekend.

Jack Nevins: The resident enforcer is likely to miss the next two to three weeks with an injury sustained against Grand Rapids.

Morgan Ellis: The blueliner has dominated the scoresheet for the ECHL's Wheeling Nailers registering twenty one points in thirty-one games. Eliis tallied two more goals this past week giving him eleven on the season.

Dalton Thrower: With his suspension served Thrower returned to Brampton's lineup where he registered zero points in three games.

Mike Condon: A brilliant rookie campaign continues for Mike Condon, who posted two wins this weekend. The first was a thirty save shutout against the Marlies. Condon then posted twenty two saves in a 4-3 overtime win against Toronto.

Joey MacDonald: The veteran goaltender has taken over the back up role with Condon now receiving the majority of the starts for Hamilton.
