Habsent Minded Episode 4.22: The defence, with Jason Paul

Taking a look at the Canadiens’ options on defence.

NHL: Stanley Cup Playoffs-Montreal Canadiens at Winnipeg Jets James Carey Lauder-USA TODAY Sports

Jason Paul joins Patrik Bexell from Kenya to talk about the defensive structure of Montreal Canadiens. With new defenders coming from within the system, in Kaiden Guhle and Mattias Norlinder’s case, and free agency as in the cases of David Savard, Chris Wideman and Sami Niku, there are a lot to talk about.

Jason Paul does see different patterns in the Montreal system that makes you understand how the playoff run was achieved. The stats got worse in some ways even as Montreal progressed further into the playoffs. Is this a sustainable way of playing? Can Montreal achieve regular season success with the same kind of play?
