Patrik Bexell and Anton Rasegård woke up early Wednesday morning to give you their takes on the Montreal Canadiens exhibition game against the Toronto Maple Leafs Tuesday night - a game which ended in a 4-2 defeat.
The power play struggled even more than before, considering the fact that Toronto scored two of their goals while the Canadiens were one man up on their opponents. Montreal also had the misfortune of losing Alex Belzile to injury.
Should we be worried after watching an exhibition game? Or is this exactly what an exhibition game is supposed to do - give the players ice time and much needed practice for when the real series starts?
It’s not all a disaster though. A few glimpses of a bright future could be discerned for the hawk-eyed. Nick Suzuki’s assist to Tomas Tatar’s tap-in goal is worth both one and two re-watches. Jesperi Kotkaniemi is back in the top league and demonstrated parts of the skills we fell in love with a year-and-a-half ago.
Most of all, let’s just be grateful that we have something to discuss - and look forward to - again. Hockey’s back, everybody!
