Pre-Game Thoughts
- Folks, we are SO back and it is so good to see Habs hockey back on my screen
- That is until the first goal against and we all spiral…As a family!
- Also absolutely giddy to see Patrik Laine suit up for his first ever Habs game
- Plus you know…More Lane Hutson
First Period
- LET’S DO THAT HOCKEY
- Well, I don’t love that hit on Adam Engstrom, so props to Lucas Condotta for stepping in
- Probably for the best that the officials broke it up before Nic Deslauriers got any punches going however
- Hey they successfully killed a penalty, and I didn’t wince during it once!
- Oh…there’s Josh Anderson
- TWO PENALTY KILLS!!
- Patrik Laine made that skate through the entire Flyers team look like he was out for a casual stroll…Neat!
- Kirby Dach is bringing the physicality and I for one welcome that large angry man in this lineup
- UNLEASH THE LAINE OR LANE…Whichever one is cooler
- Based on the way the crowd reacts to Laine getting the puck, his first goal is going to level a Montreal city block
- Okay so no goals, but also Cayden Primeau looks really good at least
- (We’ll just ignore why he had to make that save for now)
- Every shift that features Lane Hutson so far has been super fun, and I am always all for that
- Guys, that’s too many penalties
- Well, that was certainly a goal, but it’s preseason for the refs too right?
- Fun first period!
Second Period
- Well, on my other screen the Bills are steamrolling the Jags can the Habs do something similar?
- Another penalty kill, but this one made me a bit more nervous!
- The noise that slapshot made coming off of Arber Xhekaj’s stick…*chefs kiss*
- OOOOOF so close for Dach!
- I am so excited to watch the Chaos Goalie, Jakub Dobeš come into this game
- He might make 25 saves, or allow five goals!
- I know it’s halfway through a preseason game, but Oliver Kapanen is making the Habs at this rate
- Jared Davidson fully making up for his earlier penalty!
- Luke Tuch with his first goal in a Habs jersey and it’s 1-0 Habs!
- That Dach, Newhook, Laine trio is absolutely buzzing and it is warming the cockles of my heart
- Dammit Josh….Roy?
- I gotta admit I’m used to blaming Anderson for plays going off side
- Yep, I’m definitely sold on Kapanen making the NHL team
- I just want to see a Lane to Laine power play goal, you guys can do it!
- Again, fun period and the Habs are winning so I have no complaints folks
Third Period
- Well the Bills game is a blowout of massive proportions right now, so it’s full attention on the third period now!
- At what point do we consider the idea of “Justin Barron, NHL Forward”?
- LANE HUTSON IS HIM
- DAvid Savard also scored which raises his trade value to TWO first round picks now
- I can barely keep up with the goals now!
- Alex Barre-Boulet keeping it alive with Oliver Kapanen
- And hoooo boy what a ripper by Emil Heineman…This is fun hockey!
- IT IS A VERY GOOD NIGHT FOR ATHLETES NAMED JOSH!
- Slick feed from Roy and smooth finish from Anderson
- It is lovely to hear the “Oles” from the Bell Centre crowd, even in the preseason
- Laine’s half speed wrist shot is still strong enough to pop a goalie’s mask straps, yeesh
- Every single time Lane Hutson is on the ice, good things happen
- Again, Oliver Kapanen uses all the space given to him and it leads to another goal
- Habs have some tough choices to make already
- A 5-0 win and great showing from the young guys, I’ll take that every night
