Habs tweak lineup, call up Engqvist and return Palushaj to AHL

The Montreal Canadiens have made a minor adjustment to their roster, in preparation for Tuesday’s game against the Buffalo Sabres.

Montreal called up center Andreas Engqvist from the Hamilton Bulldogs, and returned right winger Aaron Palushaj to the AHL. The complete press release can be read here.

The call of Engqvist could reflect on the status of either Tomas Plekanec or Jeff Halpern, or both. The two centers have missed the past three games with day-to-day injuries. It i suspected that Plekanec is suffering a groin injury, which could be pestering problem through the remainder of the season. Halpern could be nursing a knee problem.

The team took Monday off, following their 8-1 beat down on the Minnesota Wild, so the status of the two players won’t be known until after the team’s morning skate.

The 23-year old center has the defensive smarts, which should help atone for the loss of Plekanec and Halpern. His 6-4″ frame that might come in handy later in the week as well, when the Habs hit the road to face the Boston Bruins.
