Habs enthusiastic as they prepare for Heritage Classic

February 18th Habs practice Audio: Jacques Martin Carey Price Mike Cammalleri P.K. Subban Hal Gill

Note: Apologies for the audio levels as the batteries from my recorder died in the trip west, so I used my Blackberry and camera.

Coming off of their loss Thursday night to the Edmonton Oilers, the Montreal Canadiens were back at work today at the Pengrowth Saddledome in Calgary.

Tomorrow they will get their first outdoor test of the ice at McMahon Stadium, when they prepare to meet the Calgary Flames in the 2011 Heritage Classic.

It appears Hal Gill and Mike Cammalleri are both ready to go Sunday, based on today’s practice. Coach Jacques Martin is citing James Wisniewski‘s rather gruesome facial injury as day to day.

“It’s still too be determined,” Martin said. “The doctors say he will be reevaluated tomorrow.” It may still fall on the Canadiens rearguard as to whether or not he’s willing to go.If he is, the Canadiens defense and offense will be in much better shape than as of late.

Several players, as well as coach Jacques Martin, spoke to the media afterwards on a variety of topics, notably the concept of playing outdoors. I managed to get a little video snipet of Carey Price.
