The Montreal Canadiens have wasted no time getting their star goaltender under contract, agreeing to terms on an eight-year deal with Carey Price.

Reports of an extension being done not long after the earliest possible date of July 1 had been circulating for a while, and the team waited until July 2 to get it done.
Price has one Vezina Trophy to his name, and finished third in voting last season. He also claimed the Hart Memorial Trophy as league MVP in 2014-15.
Le #CH vient de s'entendre avec Carey Price: contrat de huit ans à un salaire moyen de 10,5 millions $ par saison. Gros dossier de réglé— Francois Gagnon (@GagnonFrancois) July 2, 2017
So $70 million worth of signing bonuses in Price's $84 million contract. Wow.— Pierre LeBrun (@PierreVLeBrun) July 2, 2017
