Emil Heineman in traffic accident, out three-to-four weeks

The Montreal Canadiens announced on Tuesday that forward Emil Heineman was involved in a traffic accident and will be out three-to-four weeks with an upper-body injury.

Heineman’s agent says he was hit by a car and it may be a wrist injury.

“We are awaiting an update from North America. He has been hit by a car, nothing too serious. Maybe a broken wrist. A specialist will have a look at the injury,” said his agent Marcus Isaksson to Aftonbladet.

The timeline of three or four weeks likely rules out the worst-case scenario.

The Canadiens are set for a game in Utah on Tuesday night, and it is very likely that Michael Pezzetta will draw into the lineup. Alex Newhook missed practice on Monday with flu symptoms, so it is possible the Canadiens may have to also dress defender Jayden Struble.

After Tuesday’s game in Utah the Canadiens go to Dallas to face the Stars before returning home on Saturday against the Toronto Maple Leafs. It would not be surprising if the Canadiens recall a forward to join them in Dallas.
