The Anaheim Ducks overachieved for most of the year, and they managed to win a tough Pacific Division. They grabbed a tough draw with the Detroit Red Wings, but if there’s anything that former Hab Saku Koivu is used to, it’s slaying dragons.
Oh and there’s that other guy worth cheering for named Teemu Selanne.
On the other side of things, the old guard in Detroit is looking at possibly their last chance at glory, as 34 year old Pavel Datsyuk like only has a couple more great years left in him.
The loss of Lidstrom was felt heavily on Detroit’s blueline, but coach Mike Babcock is still the best in the league, and they found a way.
