Clement Jodoin Hired as Assistant Coach. One More Assistant to Go.

The Montreal Canadiens has announced that last year’s Hamilton Bulldog’s Head Coach Clement Jodoin has been hired to fill one of the assistant coaching positions for the Montreal Canadiens. Jodoin reprises his previous position as assistant coach for the Canadiens which he filled during Therrien’s first tenure as Head Coach in Montreal. Jodoin has also had a 10 year career as a QMJHL head coach and has previously filled scouting and player development roles for the Canadiens.

Official press release.

Arpon Basu reports that Therrien is looking to hire one more coach to primarily work with the team’s defensemen. There has been speculation that former Habs defensemen Larry Robinson or JJ Daigneault may be tapped for the position. Robinson, who appears to be the popular choice for the job, is complicated by his existing position as assistant coach for, and relationship with, the New Jersey Devil’s franchise.

Jodoin will be the eye in the sky for the Habs, giving Pierre Groulx a break from that job so he can focus solely on goaltending. Which means the yet unnamed third assistant coach will fill the job as the third bench coach along side Therrien and Gallant.
