Charlie Lindgren recalled, Zach Fucale assigned to IceCaps

Yesterday the Montreal Canadiens called up Zachary Fucale on an emergency basis, following a lower-body injury to backup Al Montoya.

The reason they went with Fucale over Charlie Lindgren was simple, Brampton is a lot closer than St. John’s. Now that Lindgren has managed to catch a flight to Montreal, Fucale has been reassigned to the IceCaps.

Montoya was not present at practice, although there’s no word on whether or not he’ll miss an extended period of time. Claude Julien did qualify the injury as “day-to-day.”

Lindgren has a 22-17-1 record for the IceCaps this year, as well as a .913 save percentage. St. John’s is currently fighting for a playoff spot with only eight games left on the schedule. They sit three points up on Utica, although they’ve played one more game than their counterparts.
