Catching the Torch: March 24 to 30

A statistical review of the Montreal Canadiens prospects and their performance for the past week.

Hamilton Bulldogs Hockey Club

The Three Stars

1. Sven Andrighetto

As the season goes on in Hamilton, Sven Andrighetto stands out as one of a few bright spots as the Bulldogs have struggled for a third consecutive season. After going without a point in a 4-0 loss to the Texas Stars, Andrighetto would soon light up. He would score a goal and two assists in a 6-3 win over the San Antonio Rampage in the next game. He would register an assist in the following game, a tilted 6-1 loss to the Texas Stars. He would round out his week picking up two assists in a tight 4-3 win over the San Antonio Rampage, one of which was on the game-winning goal. Andrighetto's 15 goals and 24 assists over 56 games this season have the rookie leading the Bulldogs in points-per-game at 0.7 over the season. Sven Andrighetto was drafted in the third round, 86th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2013 NHL Draft.

2. Greg Pateryn

The leading defensive scorer of the Hamilton Bulldogs continues to be a steady prescence when the team lands itself in the win column as Greg Pateryn's strong offensive season continues. After going without a point when the Texas Stars shut out Hamilton to begin the week, he would mark a goal and two assists to lead a 6-3 win over the San Antonio Rampage in the next game. He would go pointless in a 6-1 loss to the Texas Stars before marking the game-winning goal in a 4-3 win over San Antonio to round out his week. Pateryn's 13 goals this season have him tied for second in the AHL for goal scoring by a defencemen. Greg Pateryn was drafted in the fifth round, 128th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2008 NHL Draft and was acquired by the Montreal Canadiens as part of the trade that sent Mikhail Grabovski to Toronto.

3. Charles Hudon

As the Quebec Major Junior playoffs open up, Charles Hudon has established himself as one of the key performers for the Baie-Comeau Drakkar in their series against the Shawinigan Cataractes. He would mark two assists in his first game of the week as Baie-Comeau would mark a 3-0 shutout victory over Shawinigan. His scoring would improve in the following game, collecting a goal and two assists in a 6-2 win over Shawinigan to close out a series sweep of the Cataractes, allowing Baie-Comeau to advance to the 2nd round of the QMJHL playoffs. Hudon is currently tied for the playoff scoring lead on Baie-Comeau with seven points. Charles Hudon was drafted in the fifth round, 122nd overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2012 NHL Draft.
