The Three Stars
If there is one prospect who has raised his profile this week, it is certainly Louis Leblanc. The somewhat embattled Leblanc who had prior to the 2012-13 season been thought as a steady property for the club injected new life into his status as an NHL prospect this past week with the Hamilton Bulldogs. He would begin the week in a rather dramartic fashion on Tuesday versus the Rockford IceHogs in an impressive 3-point performance. Leblanc would mark a pair of assists in regulation time, including on the game-tying goal to force overtime, then would mark his first goal of the season as the overtime game-winner. Leblanc would prove himself no less the hero on Friday, as he would notch two goals on Saturday versus the Rochester Americans including for a consecutive game, the overtime game-winner. Leblanc would finish the weekend off scoring a single goal in a 3-2 victory for the Bulldogs over the Utica Comets. Leblanc's performance this week seemed to also impress the Montreal Canadiens brass, as he is their latest call-up to fill in the missing depth at forward. Louis Leblanc was drafted in the 1st round, 18th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2009 NHL Draft.
The biggest surprise on the the Hamilton Bulldogs this season, Sven Andrighetto has been turning heads as the rookie has taken a leading offensive role on the team to begin the year. Andrighetto would begin the week scoring a pair of goals for Hamilton in a 5-4 overtime victory against the Rockford IceHogs on Tuesday. He would pick up an assist in the team's next effort, a 4-3 overtime victory versus the Rochester Americans. Andrighetto would maintain his scoring streak by collecting another assist in a 3-2 victory over the Utica Comets. Andrighetto would round out his week marking one more assist, but in a 3-2 loss to the Toronto Marlies. With three goals and four assists over eight games, Andrighetto leads the Hamilton Bulldogs in scoring and is on a 4-game point streak of two goals, three assists over that time. Sven Andrighetto was drafted in the 3rd round, 86th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2013 NHL Draft.
In his rookie season with the Hamilton Bulldogs,Magnus Nygren is starting to turn some heads with some notable offensive production. Nygren would start the week picking up an assist on the game-winning goal in Hamilton's 5-4 overtime victory against the Rockford IceHogs on Tuesday. He would impress further later on, scoring his first AHL goal and marking an assist as the Bulldogs would edge the Rochester Americans in a 4-3 overtime victory on Friday. Nygren's scoring for the week would end there, but he has so far enjoyed a very encouraging start to his professional debut in North America with five points in his first eight games. Magnus Nygren was drafted in the 4th round, 113th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2011 NHL Draft.
