Greg Pateryn has earned top honours this week for an impressive opening weekend with the Hamilton Bulldogs. Pateryn would start the weekend scoring a shorthanded goal for Hamilton in their home opener on Friday night in what would be an eventual 3-2 victory for Hamilton over the St. John's IceCaps. Pateryn would improve on his production the following night facing off against the Grand Rapids Griffins, scoring a goal and assist but unfortunately to lesser results as the Bulldogs would lose in an eventual 4-3 shootout decision. Pateryn leads the Hamilton Bulldogs in goals (2) and points (3) over the first two games of the season. Greg Pateryn was drafted by in the 5th round, 128th overall by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the 2008 NHL Draft and was acquired by Montreal in the Mikhail Grabovski Trade.
Jérémy Grégoire continues to be one of the major surprises to start the 2013-14 season in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League. He would begin his week scoring a goal in a 4-2 loss for the Baie-Comeau Drakkar against the Quebec Remparts on Wednesday, this also extended his current goal scoring streak to three games. He would further his streak on Saturday, marking the game-winning goal in a 2-1 victory for Baie-Comeau over the Gatineau Olympiques. He would save his best to close out the week though, as he would score two goals and an assist in a 8-1 thrashing of Acadie-Bathurst Titan. Grégoire's twelve goals have him ranked 2nd in the QMJHL in goal scoring and he is ninth overall in points in the league with 16 points over 10 games, he also leads Baie-Comeau in scoring. Jérémy Grégoire was drafted in the 6th round, 176th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2013 NHL Draft.
If there was one member of the Canadiens 2012 Draft Class that was looking to reinvigorate his career, it was Dalton Thrower and he is certainly working his way towards that in the 2013-14 Western Hockey League season. While he would go pointless in his first game of the week against the Prince Albert Raiders in a 4-3 shootout loss, he would quickly find his way on to the scoresheet. He would record the lone goal for Vancouver in a trip to visit his former club the Saskatoon Blades, but they would suffer a 6-1 loss in Thrower's homecoming. He would mark another goal in the following game, a 5-4 overtime loss to the Regina Pats. He would round out his week marking two assists in a 5-2 loss to the Swift Current Broncos. Thrower currently leads the Vancouver Giants in scoring with 3 goals and 3 assists over 6 games. Dalton Thrower was drafted in the 2nd round, 51st overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2012 NHL Draft.
