The Three Stars
1. Charles Hudon
While Charles Hudon has exchanged jerseys after being traded from the Chicoutimi Saguenéens to the Baie-Comeau Drakkar, it would be hard to say he seems out of sorts after leaving his old team. Hudon would begin his stint with Baie-Comeau by recording two assists in a 6-4 victory over the Gatineau Olympiques. He would further impress in the following game, recording his first goal as a member of the Drakkar, along with marking another two assists to help guide Baie-Comeau in a 5-2 victory over the Shawinigan Cataractes. Going back to the pre-World Junior break, Hudon is on a seven game point streak, scoring four goals and 11 assists in that time. Charles Hudon was drafted in the 5th round, 122nd overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2012 NHL Draft.
2. Brady Vail
After some early debate about his future prospects that included early cuts from both Team USA’s World Junior Camp and the Montreal Canadiens training camp, Brady Vail continues to set the pace for an excellent final season in the OHL. Vail would begin the week quietly as he and the Spitfires would be shut out in a 6-0 rout by the Sault Ste. Marie Greyhounds. He would soon stir his team’s success once more though, as he would mark three assists in the following game to help lead Windsor to a 6-2 victory over the Plymouth Whalers. He would complete his week scoring the game-winning goal, along with two assists in a 3-1 victory over the Sudbury Wolves. Brady Vail’s past week saw him hit new career benchmarks as well, marking a career-high 23 goals in a season and career-high 37 assists while marking the 60-point plateau. He is currently 13th overall in OHL scoring. Brady Vail was drafted in the 4th round, 94th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2012 NHL Draft.
3. Zach Fucale
After a disappointing end to his tour of representing Canada at the World Junior Championships, Zach Fucale seems to have taken it all in stride while resuming his duties as the starting goaltender for the Halifax Mooseheads. Fucale would begin his week with a 22-save performance as Halifax would defeat the Charlottetown islanders 5-1. Fucale would remain solid in his next outing, recording 15 saves as Halifax would blow out RImouski Oceanic in a tilted 8-1 game. Fucale would finish his week once again, allowing only one goal with a 22-save performance as Halifax would rout their opposition once more, defeating the Acadie-Bathurst Titan 9-1. Fucale’s perfect week has lowered his season’s Goals Against Average to 2.36 and raised his save percentage to .906. He now leads the QMJHL in Goals Against Average and is 10th overall in save percentage. Zach Fucale was drafted in the 2nd round, 36th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in the 2013 NHL Draft.
