Deep into the sixth round, the Montreal Canadiens made their next pick. The team went back for another defenceman, selecting Carlos Händel at 177th overall.
Händel captained Team Germany at the World Under-18 championship, and also suited up for the U20 side at World Juniors as well. Standing 6’0″ tall and clocking in at 172 pounds, he isn’t the largest player, but has fantastic skating abilities.

Händel has played all over Europe in both Germany and Sweden before settling into the QMJHL with the Halifax Mooseheads this past year. He has plenty of developing still to do, but has a strong puck-moving base to work with.
Montreal will be back on the clock at 189th overall.
