Carey Price wins the Molson Cup for February

After a rare month where Carey Price didn’t win the Molson Cup, the award is back in his grasp. Alex Galchenyuk’s great start in January saw him win it, but he couldn’t hold it a second straight month.

Price is the Molson Cup champ, rarely ever losing out, even when he wasn’t the starting goalie. Galchenyuk and Max Pacioretty were the next closest on the list.

Official Press Release:

MONTREAL – Goaltender Carey Price is the Molson Cup recipient for the month of February. Alex Galchenyuk earned the award in January.

Price was selected once as the first star of the game (February 3 against Ottawa), twice as the second star (on the 12 at Tampa Bay and the 14 at Florida) and earned a third star selection once (on the 2 against Buffalo). Price finished ahead of teammates Alex Galchenyuk and Max Pacioretty.

The 25-year old netminder had a 7-2-2 record in 11 games in February, with a 1.87 goals against average. He stopped 258 of the 279 shots he faced for a .925 save percentage. Price recorded two shutouts; on February 14 he blanked the Panthers in Florida (1-0 in overtime) and whitewashed the New York Rangers (3-0) on February 23.

Price will be presented with the Molson Cup during a ceremony prior to the Saturday night’s game against the Pittsburgh Penguins at the Bell Centre.
