Carey Price to represent the Montreal Canadiens at the All-Star Game

Carey Price has been chosen as the Montreal Canadiens’ representative at the 2019 All-Star Game. Selected by the NHL Hockey Operations Department, he will take part in both the skills competition on Friday, January 25, and the 3-on-3 All-Star Tournament that will be played in prime time this year, on Saturday, January 26 at 8:00 PM EST.

Price is no stanger to the annual showace event, having previously played in five of them.

In 2018-19, Price has just a .904 save percentage, well down the list of goaltenders in the NHL. However, he is one of the game’s top personalities, and largely agreed to be the MVP of the Canadiens. With other teams having top forwards and defencemen for the new 3-on-3 format of the tournament, Price gets the call for the game once again.

The goaltender missed his team’s most recent games with a lower-body injury, just coming off the Injured Reserve list today. He may decide in the next three weeks that he’s rather have that weekend for recovery, so there may be another announcement to be made about the Canadiens’ representative before January 26.
