Carey Price: Human highlight reel
The NHL put together a short highlight reel of about half of Price's spectacular saves from last night's game. It's well worth reliving about 5 more times.
Where would the Montreal Canadiens be without Carey Price? Somewhere between lottery position and the AHL is most likely. Playing their worst game of the entire season, conceding scoring chances to the Ottawa Senators at the most absurd rate a team could manage to do so, Carey Price held the fort.
At least 10 times last night the Senators had sure goals on their sticks, and everyone, including the play by play guys for both TSN and TSN 690 nearly called the goals before they happened, until Price flashed a glove, or a pad, or anything he could get on pucks.
He was aggressive because he had to be, because no one was giving him any help at all. Through two periods the Canadiens had allowed 39 shots on net, and 24 scoring chances against. That makes their two period performance worse than any three period performance this season. Price was facing scoring chances at a 36 per 60 minute rate, and playing unbelievable with no help at all.
No wonder Brandon Prust felt he owed Price a shoulder rub on the plane.
