How to watch

Start time: 7:30 PM EST / 4:30 PM PST
In the Canadiens region: TSN2, TSN Direct (English), RDS, RDS Direct (French)
In the Red Wings region: Fox Sports-Detroit
Elsewhere: NHL.tv/Rogers NHL Live

After a second straight loss, and one in which the Canadiens failed to generate any offence at all, the Montreal Canadiens will make a few changes tonight for the game against the Detroit Red Wings. Nicolas Deslauriers and Michael Chaput will sit out while more offensive options Charles Hudon and Matthew Peca give the bottom trio a new look against the team allowing the sixth-most goals per game.

With the second game of a back-to-back set, Carey Price will also get to watch this one, as Antti Niemi takes to the crease for the first time in 2019. After a series of tough games, he survived being peppered with shots on New Year’s Eve to get back in the win column. The Canadiens shouldn’t need him to be as busy tonight, just needing him to stop the shots that do find their way through.

There may be a change on the back end as well, but that decision will be made right before the game. Shea Weber may not be dealing with a facial fracture, but there will no doubt be a lot of swelling that won’t be easy to play with. He may need to take at least tonight off to recover, which would mean a return to Karl Alzner to the Habs lineup.
