Canadiens vs Red Wings: Game Thread

Montreal looks to get off to a strong start after the Olympic break.

The Habs resume their 2014 campaign tonight versus the Red Wings. Both teams are fighting to secure a playoff spot, with the Red Wings sitting 6 points behind Montreal, and clinging to the last wild card position.

Unfortunately for Montreal, Carey Price sustained an injury during the Olympics, which he aggravated this morning at practice. However Montreal had already declared Peter Budaj the starter before Price aggravated his injury, which means they probably had a good idea what was going on with Price's health status.

Dustin Tokarski has been called up to back up Budaj.

Elsewhere on the injury front we'll see the return of both Alex Galchenyuk and Travis Moen. However Brandon Prust and Michael Bournival are still on the mend, and won't be dressing tonight.

The Canadiens will be honouring the returning Olympians tonight, which is good timing as the Red Wings are essentially team Sweden, but with a red jersey.

Puck drop is at 7:30 PM at the Bell Centre.
