Canadiens vs Oilers Top Six Minutes: Keep Calm, and Carey On

For our new readers and members, the Top Six Minutes is a continuation of the discussion in the game thread. We try to keep it light and entertaining. Full recaps are up the morning after every game.

First Period

• Edmonton starts their ex-Habs line, and Radulov is back!!
• Oh man. McCarron and Nurse drop the gloves. Nurse got in a few early, but I’d say Big Mac got the better of that ultimately.
• The Habs’ power play has gone back to being not terribly impressive...
• Why is Byron on the power play with Radu and Patch.
• Oh Andrew...you were doing so well until that.
• Wow. 10 minutes have been played, and shots are only 3-2 for Edmonton.
• They look as drowsy as I feel.
• OY STAY AWAY FROM CAREY.
• Hmm. Montreal has the lead in shots now, apparently. What an incredibly uneventful period.
• Oh Marky, that was not your best moment./

Second Period

• Oh no, Gally. Not again. Ok he’s fine.
• Oh. Ew. Do not like. It just HAD to be Lucic, didn’t it. And of course, it just followed a really good shift.
• Pretty sure Gally is going to try to single-handedly win this game. Him scoring now would be great.
• Oh Emelin. Why this.
• At least the Canadiens still remember how to penalty kill. Four shots given up after four minutes short-handed? Not bad at all.
• There have been at least three big instances tonight where I’ve wondered what on earth Emelin was thinking. Not ideal./

Third Period

• Well, that was a nice start to the period! What a pretty glove save by Price.
• The save might have been nice...but what came after was decidedly not. Please get out of your own end, Habs.
• That was a pretty nice shift by Byron, Danault, and Gallagher!
• Oh my goodness, Carey.
• And again. And again. And again.
• BLESS YOU PAULIE.
• Also, nice to see all of Gallagher’s hard work paying off.
• AHHHHH CHUCKY. What a bounce. So nice to see Pacioretty-Galchenyuk-Radulov again.
• None of this would be possible without Carey Price.
• Byron into the empty net!!!
• Pacioretty vs empty net, empty net wins every time.
• OR NOT.
• O CAPTAIN, MY CAPTAIN.
• 4-1 Habs!/
