Canadiens vs. Islanders: Game thread, rosters, lines, and how to watch

Every point matters as the Islanders come to the Bell Centre tonight.

Lots of changes are coming to the Montreal Canadiens, and rather quickly.

Andrew Shaw supposedly suffered a lower-body injury during their game against the Boston Bruins, and will be absent from the lineup tonight.

The Canadiens picked up center Logan Shaw from waivers earlier today as well, perhaps due to the injury news that arose.

Coming off a hard-fought loss against Boston, in which Phillip Danault suffered a head injury, the Canadiens’ centre depth has quickly crumbled, as the only active centres are Jonathan Drouin, Tomas Plekanec, Jacob de la Rose, and Byron Froese. Not satisfied with that contingent, Claude Julien has decided to try Paul Byron in the middle tonight.

Meanwhile, the Islanders are in the thick of the playoff race, led by superstar John Tavares, who has been one of the NHL’s best this season and is arguably in contention for the Hart Trophy.

The Canadiens will need to play a strong defensive game to stop the Islanders’ offence.

Puck drop is at 7:30 PM EST / 4:30 PM PST
