Lars Eller, man. Lars. Eller. Is there anything he can’t do? He’s dominant everywhere, and he’s hot to start the season.
Eller’s play where he drew a penalty while creating a shorthanded scoring chance was a great summation of his play so far this year. He’s just flat out great.
Carey Price displayed the same high level of focus as he had in the first game, but this time the bounces went his way. He didn’t get the shutout thanks to Lecavalier, but a .957 save percentage is nothing to sniff at.
Rene Bourque hasn’t made the same noise that Eller has, but he has started the season the same way he played in the playoffs last year. He’s fast, he’s big, and he can shoot. With Pacioretty out, Bourque received nearly 8 minutes of powerplay time, and led all Habs forwards in time on ice.
Michael Bournival was only able to play 6:09 with all the penalties, but he made the most of it with his speed. He registered just one shot, but created several scoring chances.
P.K. Subban led both teams in ice time with 28:31, and played 2:21 on the PK. That’s more like it, Michel.
Montreal without their best possession forward in Max Pacioretty, dominated the Flyers at even strength to the tune of a 66% Fenwick.
