Canadiens vs. Flyers: Game thread, rosters, lines and how to watch
The Canadiens pay a visit to the city of brotherly love.
The Montreal Canadiens are getting healthy again, and with the position they have themselves in despite several key players missing time due to injuries, things are looking good with the return of Alex Galchenyuk and Jeff Petry tonight.
With David Desharnais, Andrei Markov and Greg Pateryn returning to action on Tuesday, the Canadiens looked a team renewed on their way to a convincing 5-2 win over the Buffalo Sabres.
Tonight the Canadiens face a team that has had an enigmatic 2015-16 campaign thus far. After a mediocre start to the season, the Flyers went on a ten-game winning streak starting at the end of November and ending mid-December. As Habs fans know all too well, streaks like that can be erased quite easily, as the Flyers now find themselves fifth in the Metropolitan Division and clinging to the last wildcard spot, just one point up with three more games played on the Toronto Maple Leafs.
In response to recent poor play, the Flyers announced today that they will be scratching last year’s runner-up for rookie of the year Shayne Gostisbehere as the 23 year-old defenseman has struggled of late, going -11 in his past 11 games.
Dale Weise, on the other hand, will be in the lineup tonight, replacing Travis Konecny in the lineup to take on his former team for the second time this season. In the two teams meeting in November, Weise played 11:42 and had two shots on net in the 5-4 loss to the Canadiens.
