With the Habs facing Winnipeg and Toronto in the next two games after this one, this contest against Anaheim is one they should not drop, especially if they want to keep their position over the Boston Bruins in the standings.

The Ducks are, once again, in the middle of an injury-filled season, and should be not that hard of a prey for the Canadiens who are playing some solid hockey recently. Plus, their adversary is on the second half of a back-to-back, having just suffered a crushing loss to the Maple Leafs. Montreal might be playing a lot of games this week, but they will still have the advantage of a more rested squad. If they can hold off the push from the Ducks early and take the lead, they could take control of the game and not look back.

This game will also be an occasion for everyone to take a close look at the Duck rosters, and which elements could be good additions to Montreal’s lineup at the trade deadline. Anaheim is looking to retool, and it seems like Marc Bergevin has been following them around recently, being sighted at the their games against Winnipeg on Saturday and Toronto yesterday. It might only be pre-scouting, but it seems like a lot of invested time to only get a look at the strategies of a Western team.  It’s more likely that there is something there; another storyline to follow.
