Canadiens sign Victor Mete to entry-level contract

The Montreal Canadiens have announced that they have signed their 2016 fourth-round pick Victor Mete to a three-year entry level contract.

The defenceman had 44 points (15 goals, 29 assists) in 50 games for the London Knights this season and has two points (one goal, one assist) in the first two games of his team’s OHL playoff series against the Windsor Spitfires.

Mete finished 19 on our annual Top 25 Under 25 series, his first year in the organization.

He’s one of the best skaters in the organization, although his defensive prowess shouldn’t be ignored, as he’s become one of the most important players for the London Knights at both ends of the ice.

He often plays with Vancouver Canucks first-round pick Olli Juolevi at even strength, as well as being deployed on the power play and penalty kill.

Mete still has one year of CHL eligibility remaining, so he likely will remain in London next season.
