Pre-season game 4: Montreal Canadiens vs. Ottawa Senators
Start time: 7:00 PM EDT / 4:00 PM PDT
In the Canadiens region: RDS (French)
In the Senators region: TSN5 (English)
Streaming: RDS, TSN
The Canadiens go into their final pre-season games with no Ivan Demidov, who has been absent from the last few practices after blocking a shot with his foot, and no Lane Hutson, who somehow agreed not to take to the ice when his teammates do tonight. Down two of their most skilled players, the Canadiens will have to play a game more akin to that of their opponent in tonight’s simultaneous set.
Juraj Slafkovský will have Alex Newhook as a linemate instead, and be centred by Phillip Danault. The top line features Chris Kreider once again after his game off on Tuesday, while Florian Xhekaj and Owen Beck get one last chance to show what they can do on home ice before the roster is finalized.

Pre-season game 5: Montreal Canadiens @ Ottawa Senators

The Canadiens have sent a group made up largely of AHL players to Kanata, though the lineup will feature a line of Zachary Bolduc, Oliver Kapanen, and Kirby Dach. The defence pairings are the most interesting, with Jayden Struble, Arber Xhekaj, Adam Engström, and David Reinbacher sharing the minutes.
This group will be playing something very close to the Senators’ opening-night lineup, so it will be a challenge for all the defencemen to limit Ottawa’s offensive chances. The four blue-liners mentioned will all be watched closely in this critical evaluation to end training camp.
