The New York Rangers arrive in Montreal on a three-game losing streak, scoring one goal in those matches. They managed to make that one goal stand up for a point in Toronto as they held the Maple Leafs to one goal as well through regulation, but fell in overtime.
It will only be a matter of time before the Rangers’ offence comes to life; not even the worst possession teams get held off the scoresheet with the regularity the Rangers have this season and New York has been one of the top clubs in terms of generating scoring chances.
A defence without Kaiden Guhle will tasked with shutting down the Rangers and all the other opponents the Habs face over the next month-and-a-half. The defence has been strong so far this year, so in that regard tonight’s match should be fairly equal. The difference may be that Montreal has found better offensive success to start the year, with much more confident scorers than those on the Rangers’ side.
