A night after a disappointing loss to the Toronto Maple Leafs on home ice, the Montreal Canadiens are right back at it in front of the Bell Centre crowd on Sunday. You can bet there won’t be a similar let-up from the Habs after how last night played out, and that kind of effort will be important versus a surging Rangers team.

After trying to get by following the injury to Emil Heineman by playing Michael Pezeeta regularly, and not getting the desired performances from the 13th forward, today the Canadiens recalled Owen Beck from the Laval Rocket. It’s probably just a temporary addition until Heineman is recovered in a week or two, with perhaps a more permanent addition coming after the trade deadline. He and head coach Martin St-Louis will have a chance to get accustomed to one another before that day arrives in March.

Jakub Dobes gets the call in net tonight, and he has been significantly outperforming Samuel Montembeault since he was called up just after Christmas. He will be aiming to run his career-opening winning streak to five games, and if he does that (maybe even if he doesn’t), he could be the one who gets the nod in the homestand finale on Tuesday.
