Canadiens @ Rangers Top Six Minutes: Not what the Dach-ter ordered

Pre-Game Thoughts

  • I have to be honest, I didn’t know this was 1pm start and I am choosing to blame the copious amount of potatoes that I have ingested this week
  • Might be the perfect time for a Rangers match up with them struggling, especially with the Bruins tomorrow
  • I also know this is a hockey site but GO BLUE, I have less than kind things to say about Ohio State

First Period

  • I don’t know if that was a penalty on K’Andre Miller or not, but maybe don’t just let them get an odd-man rush out of it
  • Did wonder if there would be any sort of follow up based on the Trouba/Barron hit last time out
  • Josh Anderson answered that emphatically by feeding Trouba seven different helpings of fist
  • In one shift I counted three different Rangers taking there chance to try and level Lane Hutson with a hit
  • I guess if it means denying a goal, I can stomach that penalty by Emil Heineman
  • Josh Anderson got a penalty for being pushed into a guy and tripping him this week, a Ranger just slid through a Habs legs and didn’t get called for anything
  • Which now leads to a Matheson yeeting a puck into the fifth row…Oh boy!
  • All of that tracks for the Habs luck this season, Rangers up 1-0
  • MIKE MATHESON!
  • Great effort in the offensive zone from the Bergevin’s Leftovers Line to set that up
  • And now a Habs power play, and Lane Hutson is on the ice?
  • Well they didn’t score on that power play, but the face of David Savard draws another!
  • The quickness that Cole Caufield has in uncorking a one-timer is awe-inspiring
  • Allowing that kind of goal in the dying seconds of the period stings like hell

Second Period

  • Great first shift to start the period, love Alex Newhook getting into the dirty areas to try and create chances
  • Boy, I don’t know about not calling that obvious trip on Josh Anderson!
  • And now the refs wipe out an odd-man rush for the Habs, for a penalty on the Rangers???
  • While the Habs do little to make that man advantage count, I am still annoyed about the level of officiating in this game
  • This game has seemingly entered a very sleepy phase here in the second period, lots of offside and that is about it
  • I do think there’s a Nick Suzuki goal in the chamber here somewhere today folks
  • I am starting to see why the Rangers are currently on a losing skid.
  • Officials don’t call a blatant hit in the numbers on Heineman, and then promptly turn around and give the Habs a penalty
  • WHAT THE HELL IS THAT CALL
  • And the Rangers promptly score, this is absolutely (REDACTED)
  • Well, if the Habs are going to take penalties at least they’re earning them now
  • I am still bewildered how the Rangers only have one player in the box now though
  • And it’s a Rangers power play!
  • What an absolutely stupid period of hockey, and even more annoying that the Habs don’t seem capable of overcoming it right now

Third Period

  • So they’ve finally sorted out the penalties, and I am somehow more annoyed by it than before
  • Great response to start the period, kill the penalty and miss a goal by inches
  • THERE’S ONE!
  • What a ripper by Caufield after another great offensive zone shift by the first line
  • I get that Kirby Dach is likely very frustrated, I don’t know if I love that hit from him
  • Refs didn’t call anything, but that doesn’t surprise anyone
  • To interrupt again, Go Blue!
  • Okay, back to Habs
  • Did I, or did I not call a Nick Suzuki goal folks?
  • My god what a play from Lane Hutson on that goal
  • OH MY GUYS
  • Inches….INCHES from taking the lead from the Rangers
  • Oh Kirby buddy, not like this
  • The running interference the Rangers continue to get away with is absolutely insane
  • And it turns into a goal for the Rangers with 22 seconds left
  • That’s an insanely frustrating way to lose considering the Habs were arguably the better team for most of that game
  • Well…The Habs can try and take their frustrations out on a struggling Boston Bruins team tomorrow as well
  • See you all for the Rocket game!

EOTP 3 Stars

3) I’ve always thought he would make a good bumper

2) This feels like an agenda now

1) At least we have the lasting image or Jacob Trouba’s face being punched flat
