Canadiens practice news: Gallagher, Desharnais skate, therapy day for Galchenyuk

The Montreal Canadiens had a relatively big day for news at practice today, as Brendan Gallagher, David Desharnais, Andrei Markov, and Greg Pateryn all skated today, but did not take part in the team’s full practice.

Gallagher notably skated with a stick without a blade as last year, when he was recovering, he shot pucks when he was not supposed to. The lack of blade will likely solve that issue.

The team also announced that Alex Galchenyuk missed practice with a therapy day, likely to give him some rest as the team has had a busy schedule since he returned from his injury. Michel Therrien has said that the team is trying to ease him back.

It meant there were some different line combinations for the Habs.

If you replace Flynn with Galchenyuk, it is essentially the same lineup the Habs have had the last few games.

On defence, more of the same with the pairings not changing either.

The Canadiens play the Calgary Flames at the Bell Centre on Tuesday.
