Ben Bishop injury: Lightning goaltender leaves game after awkward fall

The Lightning may have been dealt a serious blow heading into their first round matchup against Montreal.

The Lightning haven't exactly been tearing it up of late, and their underlying numbers show that they've been trending downward for awhile now.

Outside of Steven Stamkos, no player is as important to the success of the Tampa Bay Lightning as Ben Bishop, and he looks to have seriously injured himself in Tuesday night's game against the Toronto Maple Leafs.

Bishop was forced to leave the game after awkwardly jumping for the puck.

Going from the Vezina contending Bishop to the below replacement level Anders Lindback poses a serious problem for Tampa Bay, but the Canadiens may just be smiling from ear to ear right now.

The Lightning do have another option in Latvian hero of the Olympics Kristers Gudlevskis, but his AHL numbers leave a lot to be desired.
