With three days to review their tactics from the season-opening win in Toronto, the Canadiens hit the ice for game two versus a better, deeper Pittsburgh Penguins team. Like Montreal, the Penguins received offence from lower in their lineup to knock off their opponent to begin the new campaign, but they had the additional output of two goals from Sidney Crosby’s new winger, Nick Robertson.

As the Philadelphia Flyers found out, the Penguins can get goals from any line. Montreal will be using its more aggressive defence to prevent the Pens from putting seven on the board again tonight, and try to provide more of a defensive test than the Flyers were able to administer.

Special teams were big for the Penguins in their first win, with two power-play goals on four opportunities and a short-handed marker. Montreal didn’t allow Toronto to score any goals on the man advantage despite facing a couple of potent units, and repeating that performance would be a big help in limiting the production of a dangerous team.
