The top line was once again at the forefront of the Canadiens’ game last night, responsible for all of the goals Montreal scored save for a late empty-netter. The reason Montreal came out of the break with a five-game winning streak was the depth of scoring its was getting from everyone in the lineup, but right now it’s really just one line and one defenceman leading the charge.
Tonight the Canadiens face a team currently being led by second-line centre Shane Wright. He will be between Jared McCann, a player having a down year after being around the 30-goal mark each season in Seattle save for two years ago when he hit 40, and Jani Nyman who will be making his NHL debut after scoring 26 goals in 55 AHL games this season.
At some point, the Canadiens need to start getting more players going, and the team that ranks 24th in goals against offers a good chance to work on their offensive finish.
