Playing a critical game this afternoon, the New York Rangers were unable to score a single goal versus the New Jersey Devils, and made their path to the playoffs even more difficult than it already was. That means Montreal’s chances of making it went up by a significant margin, but they still have to take care of their own business this weekend.

It starts with a game on Saturday night versus a Philadelphia Flyers side that just scored six goals on them on March 27. It was the second game in a row in which Montreal had allowed that many, and they followed it up a night later with a 4-1 loss to the Hurricanes. Montreal needed to turn things around in a major way, and they’ve done that with three consecutive wins surrendering a total of five goals.

The Flyers therefore shouldn’t enjoy so much success versus Montreal tonight, while the Canadiens will be hoping to at least replicate the four goals they managed at Wells Fargo Arena in the loss. Half of Montreal’s lineup has been on fire offensively, and a disciplined effort on defence should be enough to help them claim another important win on home ice.
