Game 63: Montreal Canadiens @ Calgary Flames

The game between the Ottawa Senators and New York Rangers this afternoon did the Canadiens no favours. The teams played a three-point game (something that becomes quite common down the stretch with games ramping up in importance), as the Senators won in overtime. That means Montreal can’t leapfrog either of those teams today, but they still have the opportunity to tie the Rangers at 68 points.
One of the subplots of tonight’s game is the Calder battle between Lane Hutson and Dustin Wolf. Wolf has failed to earn his team a point just once in his last five starts. Hutson, who had already strung together a point streak of nine games in January, comes into tonight’s match on a six-game run.
Cole Caufield is on not only a six-game point streak of his own, but has a goal in each of his past four games to get up to 31 on the season. He’s only been held without a goal one time since Team USA lost in the final of the 4 Nations Face-Off without him. Watch for him to get some chances versus a penalty kill that hasn’t been strong this season.
