Despite a large amount of injuries, the Arizona Coyotes keep working their way up the Western Conference standings. A win last night allowed them to jump ahead of the Edmonton Oilers (perhaps playing a role in the Canadian team’s quick decision to fire general manager Peter Chiarelli) and there are now have just two teams between them a playoff spot.

An injury sustained last night may prove costly for the makeshift roster Arizona has been forced to run. Oliver Ekman-Larsson is unable to play tonight after needing to leave Tuesday’s game in Ottawa, taking away their best player for the second half of a back-to-back.

With the exception of an injured Andrew Shaw and a suspended Paul Byron, the Canadiens have their full roster intact, as well as several days of rest on their side. Arizona’s current number-one netminder, Darcy Kuemper, will also be on the bench tonight while Carey Price steps in for Montreal.

All of those personnel options point to a one-sided matchup in tonight’s game. If the Canadiens are eager for two points tonight, a consistent effort should add them to their record on the final night of action before the All-Star break.
