Montreal scored six goals in Game 3 to claim a commanding win and show it intended to make this first-round series with the Washington Capitals a long one. The Canadiens had only scored six goals three times during the regular season, so to call it an unexpected offensive explosion would be an understatement.

Miraculously, it seems that Logan Thompson, whom Montreal scored on five times on Friday, seems to be okay after essentially needing to be carried off the ice following a collision with teammate Dylan Strome in Game 3. Meanwhile, it appears that the presumed hamstring strain that Samuel Montembeault sustained was actually the more serious injury, through he is just listed as day-to-day and this game may be the only one he misses.

It’s a pivotal match at the Bell Centre tonight. Either the Capitals respond to the loss with a win to go up 3-1 and push Montreal to the brink of elimination, or the Canadiens leave the ice to a singing capacity crowd and carry a great deal of confidence with them back to D.C. for Game 5. No doubt we’re in for another physical contest, but one that could once again feature a lot of offence.
