Joshua Roy has replaced Owen Beck on the Canadiens roster and will be in the lineup this evening on a line with Brendan Gallagher, and Alex Newhook who once again finds himself at the centre position. The Canadiens have only managed two goals in the opening two matches of this road trip despite getting some great chances. The hope is that the forward who leads the Laval Rocket in goals, with 20, can help on that front.
The Canucks aren’t nearly as stingy as Dustin Wolf and the Calgary Flames have been this year, so if the Habs do get into the offensive zone they should be able to solve Kevin Lankinen a few times. While it’s the current top four scorers — the top line and Lane Hutson — who will likely get the offence rolling, Emil Heineman has yet to record a point since returning from his wrist injury. He looked strong in Calgary, and might be able to finally break through this evening. A bit of secondary scoring down the stretch will be necessary if the Canadiens want to stay in the post-season race, and the Swede has the tools to be part of it.
