Patrik Laine returns to Columbus to play the Blue Jackets for the first time since being traded in the summer, and he arrives as one of the hottest goal-scorers in the NHL, the NHL’s third star of the week with five goals. Kent Hughes wanted to add some finishing ability to the power play, but I don’t think the GM could have ever imagined that Laine would produce eight goals on the man advantage in his first nine games with the team.
Samuel Montembeault gets the net once more, not only getting his 10th consecutive start, but his third in a span of four days. There will no doubt be some fatigue for him, but it Alexandre Carrier and company can maintain the steady defensive play in front of him that they did in two games versus the Detroit Red Wings, he shouldn’t be overly taxed as he tries to back his team to a fourth win in a row.
