Jagr Negotiating With Canadiens

Louis-Andre Lariviere of TVA Sports is reporting that Jaromir Jagr is in negotiations with Montreal Canadiens‘ GM Marc Bergevin. The report has been confirmed by Jagr’s agent, former player Petr Svoboda.

“Jaromir always wanted play in Montreal,” Svoboda said today. “We discussed with [CEO] Marc Bergevin yesterday. The interest is mutual, but the decision is now up to the Canadiens.”

EOTP’s own Robert Rice broke down the possibility of the Canadiens signing Jagr yesterday, while I looked at what he could bring to the team at trade deadline time.

Of course, this isn’t the first time the Czech winger has been linked to the Habs. It’s well documented that Jagr loves the city of Montreal and the passion of its fans, and would treasure an opportunity to play with countryman and friend Tomas Plekanec.

Proof?

We’ll see if this is the year it comes to fruition. Considering the team’s roster situation, the signing of Jagr would virtually assure a trade of one of the team’s other top-9 forwards.
