Alexandre Burrows named assistant coach with Laval Rocket

Alexandre Burrows was named as an assistant coach with the American Hockey League’s Laval Rocket just after announcing his retirement from the National Hockey League.

Burrows will join the current Rocket coaching staff that includes Joël Bouchard, Daniel Jacob and Marco Marciano (goaltender coach).

“We are very lucky to have a candidate of Alex’s caliber join our new coaching staff. His recent experience as an NHL player and the extent of his background in professional hockey will prove to be excellent assets for the development of our players,” said Joël Bouchard in a press release.

“Alex perfectly matches the profile we were looking for; in addition to being an exceptional individual, he is a very good communicator. His rich experience will be an invaluable resource and many players will be able to relate to the perseverance he showed throughout his career. I am thrilled we are able to add Alex to our group,” said Bouchard.

Burrows played 13 years in the NHL with the Vancouver Canucks and Ottawa Senators. In 913 games, he had 409 points (205 goals and 204 assists).

The Montreal Canadiens are still expected to name one more assistant coach in the NHL.
