The Montreal Canadiens wasted little time on day two of the NHL draft, trading their picks at 41st and 49th overall up to 34th overall (along with the 189th pick) to select Alexander Zharovsky to kick off their 2025 NHL draft class.
Zharovsky was featured at the Gold Star camp, featuring many of the top Russian prospects and the Canadiens were the most notable club there who interviewed the winger.
Standing 6’1″ and weighing in at 163 pounds, Zharovsky spent last season playing in the MHL for Tolpar Ufa, compiling 24 goals and 26 assists in 45 games.

His performance earned him seven KHL playoff games, where he added one assist. Zharovsky is still tied to the KHL until the 2026-2027 season.
The Canadiens will be back on the clock at 79th overall with a pick obtained from the Vancouver Canucks.
