Alex Galchenyuk out vs. Flames after re-aggravating knee injury

Alex Galchenyuk’s therapy day has turned into at least one more day off. Montreal Canadiens head coach Michel Therrien confirmed that Galchenyuk will miss tomorrow night’s game against the Calgary Flames as he has re-aggravated his knee injury.

He suffered the injury Saturday but was able to finish the game. The team was trying to limit his ice time when he was moved back to play with Sven Andrighetto and Andrew Shaw. Galchenyuk returned right at the six week mark of his 6-8 week evaluation.

Therrien said that it was a minor re-aggravation, so it is possible that Galchenyuk will not be out long.

Since returning from his injury on January 14, he has already played five games in only seven days so he could simply be getting an extra day off due to the Habs condensed schedule recently.

He had two goals and two assists since returning. He has 11 goals, 16 assists in 30 games this season, where he finally was establishing himself as a top NHL centre.
