Laperrière, 46, has 16 years of QMJHL coaching experience, most recently as an associate coach with the Quebec Remparts. He also coached with Hockey Canada at the U17 championships, the U18 AAA level, as well as the Canada Winter Games.
His time with the Remparts were split between two eras, including an 11 year run from 2005-2016 just after he was head coach of the Baie-Comeau Drakkar. He rejoined the Quebec team in 2018 after two years at the U18 level as head coach.
He has played as well, including at Concordia University in Montreal in the mid 1990s.
He joins Houle and Kelly Buchberger on the Laval coaching staff. Joël Bouchard and Daniel Jacob both left the Rocket to join the San Diego Gulls last month. The Rocket have added a lot of players to their team, leveraging their ECHL affiliation in Trois-Rivières.
