Canada has claimed top spot in Group A, but Switzerland and Czechia have a showdown for second place today. Each team claimed a win over France so far, and looked good in their games versus Canada. Now they see how they match up versus one another.

It took just two games for Canada to secure the Group A title. Now the only thing to play for before the playoff portion is the first overall seed. That will come down to goal differential, so it could be a rough day for France as Canada’s only aim will be filling the net to try to cover whatever the United States will do later in the day.

Preliminary Round Game 17: Denmark vs. Latvia

Thanks to a big win over Germany, Latvia is in great position to claim second spot in Group C. They would be able to make that happen if they get the win over Denmark, giving them an easier game in the qualification round.

Preliminary Round Game 18: United States vs. Germany

How to watch

Start time: 3:10 PM EDT / 9:10 PM CET
In Canada: CBC, TSN (English) ICI Télé (French)
Streaming: CBC Gem, TSN+

The United States will know how many goals they need to beat Canada for the top seed when their game begins, but unlike their neighbour they still have some work to do in their Group. The question is how Germany will perform in the game after losing to Latvia last time out. That is probably going to inspire the best effort from Germany yet, so the Americans can’t assume this game is won before it begins.
