Sweden’s offence went dry in its rivalry game versus Finland, dropping to 1-1 in the group stage. While Sweden and Slovakia are wrapping up their opening games, Germany and Latvia will be playing their second of three preliminary contests. Germany has a win over Denmark, while Latvia fell to the United States in its first game. Germany’s skill will have it as the favourite for this game, but you can never count out Latvia on the international stage.

Finland made up for a rough opener with a four-goal performance versus Sweden to get a win, and now holds the edge in its quest to finish second in the group. They should be able to get the win today and make that happen, but Italy did make things close versus Slovakia in its last outing.

It took a bit of time for Team USA to get going in its first game, but in the end came away with a 5-1 win over Latvia. The Americans are the heavy favourite to win today’s game and claim the Group C crown, but they still have a long way to go to get there.
